Deadline reported that John Lithgow is near a deal to play Albus Dumbledore for the HBO “Harry Potter” series. Other sources have confirmed this.
HBO chose to make no direct comment when asked about this report. They said, “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals.”
Harry Potter fans experienced Albus Dumbledore as the mysterious headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This wise wizard always seemed to be one step ahead of trouble.
