The loveable character Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a Planet X project. A hint of this came from a social media post by Vin Diesel.

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have seen Groot help save the universe. They have seen the lovable tree like guardian as a full-grown “tree,” a tiny baby, a small child, and a cranky teenager. Fans have embraced all the changes in their favorite talking tree. (https://gamerant.com/groot-from-guardians-of-the-galaxy-changed-years/)
Still, how much do they know about this character in the MCU? Based on the final words of Groot in the “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Marvel moviegoers may have learned to understand Groot. The powerful words voiced by Vin Diesel, saying, “I love you, guys,” might mean we are close enough to Groot to understand him.
Still, in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Marvel fans learned about the mysterious past of Rocket Raccoon. While learning about the horrible experimentation done on 89P13 (Rocket Raccoon, as we know him), we did not learn very much about his partner in crime. In fact, despite his important role as a Guardian of the Galaxy, we do not know much about Groot’s past. In contrast, MCU fans know a significant amount about the past of Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, and Drax. T
The only Guardian of the Galaxy from the first movie that MCU fans lack a history with is Groot. Since the mid-credits scene of “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3” shows that Groot is not done saving the galaxy, will we ever learn more about Groot’s past?
Planet X: Vin Diesel Spoke of Groot’s Home Planet
Vin Diesel, the voice of Groot, left a bread crumb on the trail for those wanting a Groot-centric plot to an MCU project. On his social media account, Vin Diesel chose to answer some questions about his current projects. In doing so, he mentioned several franchises in which he appeared. In addition, he mentioned Planet X and Groot. He typed, “Disney wants their Planet X! Which some say is Marvel’s most anticipated movie, haha. The film where Groot returns to his home planet.”
Could Disney Make a Planet X Movie About Groot?
Anything is possible with the future of the MCU. The transition from the Kang Dynasty to Dr. Doom should tell us that. With the multiverse aspect in play, anything could happen in the MCU.
Being realistic, this Instagram post marks the first time any public discussion of a Groot or Planet X concept has been mentioned. Marvel projects take a long time to create and must fit the current saga.
Also, no overt mention of Groot’s home planet has occurred in the MCU films. While there may have been hints about Planet X and Groot, the only direct confirmation that Planet X is Groot’s home planet happened in the Disney+ series “Secret Invasion.” While many fans may have missed it, we learned that Groot’s DNA was left behind on Earth. We even see a Skrull using Groot-like powers during this Disney+ series. Combine that with the fact that the MCU has established that Planet X’s inhabitants, the Flora Colossi, speak the language Taluhnisan. This language resembles the three-word vocabulary of a favorite Guardian of the Galaxy spoken repeatedly.
What Does This Mean for MCU Fans?
Will MCU fans get a Groot standalone movie? That is tough to say. “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3” opened the door for more Rocket Raccoon and Groot adventures with new team members. Will the MCU need a quirky movie like the original “Guardians of the Galaxy” amid the planned saga?
No matter what, a Planet X movie will not hit theatres or television screens for many years. Even though MCU fans would love to hear the talking tree say, “I love you, guys,” this looks like a wait-and-see situation. As Groot would say, “I am Groot!”
