Sea Life Florida opens to the public on May 23, as previously announced. We went on a hard hat tour to see inside this new attraction.

Sea Life Florida within Legoland Florida opens in two months. We received an invitation to look inside during a “Hard Hat” tour. This new attraction features 25 interactive exhibits, including the main ocean display, showcasing a unique “Theme Park Under the Sea” design. Unlike any other Sea Life Aquariums worldwide, this theme incorporates coral castles, carousel hideaways, and cozy hotel-like spaces. These are all designed to keep the animals safe while they explore their underwater world.

Though the new attraction is still under construction, we received a glimpse into what this fully air-conditioned attraction offers guests. During our visit, we heard from Legoland Florida park president Franceen Gonzalez about the capital investment being made at Legoland Florida. We also saw several new Sea Life Florida areas, including a Key West-themed area and the giant aquarium.

In fairness, this was a Hard Hat Tour of Sea Life Florida. Many pieces of the construction process are still in process. We took several photos of the process. We included a few of them below…

Sea Life Florida intends to immerse guests in an ocean habitat featuring approximately 150,000 gallons of water, a vibrant freshwater gallery, a colorful stingray bay, and a hands-on invertebrate touch pool. Visitors will also encounter more than 3,000 animals representing 150 species from Florida’s coastal waters and worldwide, including blacktip reef sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, and big-belly seahorses.

At this point, none of the animals are at Sea Life Florida yet. The Sea Life Aquarists are preparing the water for all the unique creatures arriving soon. Also, during our Hard Hat Tour, we heard about the extreme efforts that Sea Life makes to care for these animals and help conserve water and energy.

Blake Boyter, senior project manager for Merlin Magic Making, told us that many sea creatures will enjoy their own piece of being in a theme park. Though we could not see it yet with the water being prepared, many of the animals will get to enjoy theme park attractions within the water. For example, a Ferris wheel and other traditional theme park attractions will be seen with the animals at Sea Life Florida in the water. Yes, the animals will have their own theme park quick service dining options, as well.
