Disney’s Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant has cut several menu items, including the Prime Rib Sandwich and Almond Cheesecake. Find out what’s been removed.

Prime Rib Sandwich

On April 1, Walt Disney World announced that four new items would arrive at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The four menu items included:

  • Cerulean Moon: Chocolate mousse dome with strawberry filling on a graham cracker tart with a hibiscus sponge, green space dust, and chocolate-caramel sauce
  • New Feature Film Burger: Our signature blend of beef topped with sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, and house-made sauerkraut served on a pretzel bun
  • Cyborg-er: Our signature blend of beef topped with griddled pastrami and pepper jack, lettuce, and heirloom tomato drizzled with house-made Carolina mustard sauce
  • Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich: Fried chicken thigh topped with ham and melted Swiss cheese on a bed of arugula with our signature maple dijon served on a brioche bun.

Anytime a menu changes at a Walt Disney World restaurant, some items are removed. This is true of the latest menu change at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant. These recent menu changes make sense since this Disney’s Hollywood Studios table service restaurant primarily serves burgers, fries, and shakes.

The menu items that hit the chopping block at Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre Restaurant, so far, include:

Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre Restaurant
Prime Rib Sandwich
  • Prime Rib Sandwich – Toasted Hoagie Roll filled with Shaved Prime Rib, Provolone, House-made Giardiniera, and a side of Au Jus
  • Chicken Salad Sandwich – House-made Blend of Chicken, Granny Smith Apples, and Celery with Applewood-smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Heirloom Tomato, and Cilantro-Avocado Aïoli on a Fresh-baked Multigrain Croissant
  • Almond Cheesecake with Spiced Blueberry Compote on a Graham Cracker Tart with a Matcha Sponge and Golden Candied Almonds.

Except for the dessert change, the menu items disappearing from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre should not be surprising. This restaurant keeps trying to expand to add more creative entrees besides burgers and fries. However, those menu items never last. For example, in recent years, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant has attempted to make the following menu items work:

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant
Pesto Penne Pasta
  • Pesto Penne Pasta
  • Pan Seared Salmon Pasta
  • Bahn Mi Burger (Yes, we know this is a burger, but it did not fit the profile at this table service place)

Menu Purging

This most recent menu change follows a previous one in late October 2024, which added the Prime Rib Sandwich. Of course, that entree did not survive the newest menu purge. At this time of writing, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant has not opened for the day. We suspected that the Beamed-Up Burger may be leaving with the Cy-Borger taking its place. For fans of that burger, we have good news that the Beamed-Up Burger is still on the menu.

We hope none of these defunct menu items were your favorite at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre. From our perspective, this table service restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios stil struggles to find a sweet spot with its menu.
