On the Border Locations Closing in Orlando Area

The Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing court records show that On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is closing over 70 locations. Two locations reside near Walt Disney World Resort. Those are:

  • Palm Parkway area – 12517 State Road 535, Orlando
  • Kissimmee, FL – 3250 Rolling Oaks Blvd

OTB holdings chief restructuring officer Jonathan Tibus said the company had been affected by “macroeconomic factors.”On The Border has been weighed down in recent years by macroeconomic factors that have negatively impacted the Company. Casual dining restaurants are acutely impacted by consumer sensitivities to eating out versus staying in,” Tibus said in court records obtained by USA TODAY.

This statement matches what most restaurants currently struggling have stated. Current restaurant and economic reports indicate that more households are reducing discretionary spending. This lowers the traffic to table service and fast-casual restaurants. Even with egg prices increasing, The price inflation gap between the grocery stores and restaurants makes dining in look far more appealing.

On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is known for its selection of fajitas options and high-quality margaritas. Most locations offer lunch specials, which make a good value. Nevertheless, Orlando visitors and locals have one less Tex-Mex dining option.
