Merlin Entertainments announced that a new Legoland roller coaster will open in 2026 at both Legoland Florida and Legoland California Resorts. This is the most significant in-park investment in the park’s history.

Several exciting things are coming to Legoland Florida this year. We recently received an invitation to attend a Hard Hat Tour for Sea Life Florida, which opens May 23. During that event, we were told that an announcement about an exciting upcoming attraction would happen this week. Of course, things changed in the theme park world, so we were not 100% confident the announcement would happen.
However, on Monday, March 24, Legoland posted that big news was coming the next day. With that social media post, we knew what to expect today. In that social media post, Legoland Florida asked, “Ready for something AWESOME?” After reading that, we could only hear the “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie.” We assume that was Legoland Florida’s plan with that social media post to prepare us for the announcement of the new Legoland roller coaster.
Legoland Florida Making Way for Future Awesomeness

Back in 2023, Legoland Florida closed one of its long-running roller coasters. When the official announcement about the closure of the Flying School attraction happened, Legoland Florida stated that it closed the attraction to “make way for future awesomeness.” Now, we know more about the future awesomeness.
Today, we received an official announcement about the anticipated new Legoland roller coaster. In fact, we got more than we expected. In 2026, new Legoland roller coasters will be coming to Legoland Florida and Legoland California.
New Legoland Roller Coaster

Merlin Entertainments, which owns the Legoland Resorts, announced the new Legoland indoor roller coasters coming in 2026 with a press release. It stated, “This first-of-its-kind new ride will launch at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort and LEGOLAND® California Resort in 2026. Merlin is making the biggest ever single in-park investment in the Resorts’ histories, spending approximately $90 mil on these two new attractions, promising an experience that combines the creative world of LEGO® building with an exhilarating ride and storyline that only LEGOLAND Parks can deliver for families with children ages 2 to 12.”
This new indoor Legoland roller coaster comes designed in collaboration with the Lego Group and Merlin’s creative masterminds. It will blend Lego’s signature storytelling with cutting-edge coaster technology with this new Legoland roller coaster.
“As we prepare to unveil this exciting new attraction designed, co-created and imagined by the amazing creative team at the LEGO® Group and the unmatched talent of our Merlin Magic Makers, we hope the mystery and anticipation adds to awesome thrills to come,” said CEO of Merlin Entertainments Fiona Eastwood. “These new coasters are unparalleled for LEGOLAND Resorts, promising to elevate two of our premier LEGOLAND Resorts to new heights, utilizing the latest technology and embracing the LEGO DNA, as only we can do.”
Legoland Florida President Speaks About New Legoland Indoor Roller Coaster

“While the details remain under wraps, one thing is clear,” said LEGOLAND Florida Resort president Franceen Gonzales. “This new ride will take our guests on an unprecedented adventure, setting a new standard for fun and imagination. While you wait, we’re opening our new SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium on May 23, 2025. These exciting attractions will give families a whole new reason to visit again and again.”
“This isn’t just a ride, it’ll be an exploration unlike any other,” said LEGOLAND California Resort president Kurt Stocks. “As the first rollercoaster to be built in 20 years at LEGOLAND California, we’re sparing no expense to deliver the most innovative, interactive and captivating experience possible.’

Merlin Entertainments also teased that hints and sneak peeks at the upcoming new Legoland indoor roller coaster could be found on the theme park resorts ‘ social media and official websites in the future.
