How Disney is Helping with Recovery from Devastating California Wildfires
In light of the tragic California wildfires, the Walt Disney Company is committing $15 million in response to help and rebuild.
In the statement announcing the $15 million commitment, Disney expressed gratitude to firefighters and first responders for continuing to work amid the ongoing emergency and to the company’s own local reporters at KABC for their coverage.
“As this tragedy continues to unfold, The Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting our community and our employees as we all work together to recover and rebuild from this unbelievable devastation,” said CEO Bob Iger in a statement. “Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with little more than his limitless imagination, and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams, and create extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world. We are proud to provide assistance to this resilient and vibrant community in this moment of need.”

Additionally, we’ve been working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, many of whom have been impacted by these fires, and we intend to provide further resources to our Employee Relief Fund to help those facing hardship as a result of this crisis.”
Disney’s release also expressed gratitude to the heroic firefighters and first responders from across the area and around the country, whose unbelievable courage and professionalism have been a source of tremendous encouragement and pride this week. Disney also stated that it was grateful for the outstanding local reporters at KABC and elsewhere, who have been a vital resource to all.
Other major companies like Paramount have committed funds to help with the fire recovery effort from the California wildfires. In an internal memo from co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins, Paramount announced its donation.
It read, “We also want to recognize and thank our dedicated CBS News and Stations journalists and teams on-the-ground in Los Angeles, especially our local KCBS/KCAL newsroom and our CBS News LA bureau,” the Paramount statement reads. “Many of them and their families have been personally affected by the fires, and they continue to show up to keep their local communities informed.”
Main Street Magic appreciates all the first responders and others working during the California fire tragedy. We also express our gratitude during this tragedy.
