Denny’s Restaurant decided to add an egg surcharge in light of the massive food cost increase with eggs. This increase is supposed to vary by market.

Egg Surcharge

The Denny’s Restaurant near Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are popular for breakfast. They are also considered to be of higher quality than most locations across the United States of America. However, no matter what Denny’s guests visit, they will be paying more for eggs.

Anybody visiting a grocery store knows that eggs cost far more now than this time last year. Food suppliers have been recommending restaurants consider an egg surcharge. Denny’s Corp. decided to follow that advice based on the skyrocketing price of eggs.

Denny’s Corp.’s move follows Waffle House’s addition of surcharges to menus as the price of eggs increases. A spokesperson for Denny’s Corp said., “We do our best to plan ahead with our vendors on items like eggs to minimize the impact market volatility has on our costs and menu pricing.” A company spokesperson said the temporary egg price increases would be implemented market-by-market.

At this point, it has not hit the Orlando market. However, egg surcharges are inevitable when dining out on vacation or any other time, especially for breakfast.

“This pricing decision is market-by-market, and restaurant-by-restaurant due to the regional impacts of the egg shortage,” a spokesperson said. “We understand our guests’ desire for value, and we will continue to look for ways to provide options on our menu, including our $2 $4 $6 $8 value menu, while navigating these rapidly changing market dynamics responsibly. This means the egg surcharges could last a while based on predicted prices in the egg market.

Will egg prices start to influence prices at other restaurants? Cracker Barrel ran a counter-promotion regarding eggs when Waffle House added the egg surcharge. Will we begin to see this at the theme park restaurants? Will those places raise prices due to egg prices and leave them at that level after stabilizing at a lower point? We all will need to wait for that answer. For more theme park-related news, please visit MSM News. As always, eat like you mean it!
