Butterbeer Season gifted us tasty treats like Goldfish Butterbeer-flavored Grahams in the grocery store. It also brought a new Butterbeer Candy Bar to the retail locations at Universal Orlando Resort. Still, our favorite new Butterbeer treat comes from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area of Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. At the quick service locations, guests can purchase a Butterbeer Cream Puff.

Butterbeer Season began March 1 and runs until May 31, 2025, with fun food and beverage options inspired by the famous Wizarding World of Harry Potter beverage, including the new Butterbeer Cream Puff. The treats and merchandise at Universal Orlando function as part of the worldwide Butterbeer Season celebration.

Two new Butterbeer treats arrived as part of Butterbeer Season at Universal Orlando Resort: a Butterbeer Cream Puff and a Butterbeer Candy Bar. We discussed the new Butterbeer Candy Bar in a previous blog and video. During those, we promised a review of the Butterbeer Cream Puff. Well, this is it!

Guests can find the Butterbeer Cream Puff at Three Broomsticks (at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Universal Islands of Adventure) and Leaky Cauldron (at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida). The Butterbeer Cream Puff costs $6.99 before any applicable discount. To purchase this treat, guests should expect to use the mobile ordering system at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter dining locations. This usually involves being seated and then ordering using the Universal Orlando Resort mobile app.

On our most recent visit, we sat on the patio behind Three Broomsticks, trying this Butterbeer treat. We utilized mobile order and table delivery. This was during a busy spring break week. However, the delivery speed to get a dessert and two Wizarding World of Harry Potter beverages seemed slow. Personally, we have never enjoyed the mobile order and table delivery method at Three Broomsticks.

The menu description for the Butterbeer Cream Pugg reads, “Cookie and Butterbeer filling with a butter-whipped topping and Butterbeer sauce.” The presentation of the Butterbeer Cream Puff earns respect, starting the dining process on a good note. This can be a messy, sweet treat. Guests should plan accordingly. However, that has not reduced our enjoyment when eating this.

How Did it Taste?

The base pastry component works well, especially for something mass-produced in a busy theme park quick service restaurant. The pastry offers just the right amount of softness while still being sturdy enough to enjoy.

The filling reminds us of the Bavarian cream we have enjoyed at Voodoo Doughnut, located at Universal CityWalk Orlando. The other components of this Butterbeer Season treat complement the cream puff nicely. The candy pearls on the whipped cream fit well. They provide a reasonable texture change for this dessert. The cookie on top with “Butterbeer” written on it tastes like a shortbread cookie. That balances nicely with the sweet Butterbeer flavors.

While we have the clever touch of a butterscotch drizzle around the cream puff on previous visits, it lacked that touch this time. This cream puff uses plenty of sugary goodness merged.

Based on that, we suggest not ordering a Butterbeer beverage to pair with this cream puff. That amount of sugary goodness could become a bad thing very quickly. We have seen plenty of sugar overloads by people who have enjoyed the beverage and the cream puff at the same time.

The Butterbeer Cream Puff continues to offer whimsy and indulgence that any Wizarding World of Harry Potter beverage should possess. Any Harry Potter fan should try this dessert at least once.
