Disney CEO Bob Iger teased that Figment could be coming to the small screen in a series or special. His statement suggests a different direction than a movie.

Bob Iger said many things during the latest Walt Disney Shareholders Meeting. He referenced “Coco 2” as being released sometime in the future, with rumors that it would be released in 2029.

During the Thursday, March 20 meeting, Bob Iger was asked about the popularity of Figment and was questioned about a Figment movie. A Figment movie has been discussed previously in rumors dating back to 2022. At the shareholders meeting, Iger was asked: “Would the company consider using Figment in other parts of the business, such as creating a film based on the character?” This question appears to look for something concrete about the movie rumors.

Iger made a playful response to this question, indicating he has been asked numerous times about the lovable purple dragon at shareholder meetings in recent years. Iger said “I think this is my 24th shareholder call, my 18th as CEO, and I think the question about Figment has been asked about 15 times. I call him Good ‘Ole Figment. Clearly he’s popular with shareholders from the fact that they ask questions about him all the time. We also know that he’s popular at Epcot, where you can meet him at Journey Into Imagination.”

Iger went on to say, “But I’ll tell you what: I have been asked this so many times, I am going to ask our creative teams to consider making some form of series or short-form videos of Figment. Obviously he’s more popular than just a walk-around character at our parks and resorts.”

The Disney CEO did not mention the rumored movie. In fact, this response does not sound like a confirmation of anything. We are not sure how fans should take this statement. However, initial reactions by Disney fans and news sites lean towards Disney creating a streaming series or special.

Will we get more Figment? In fairness, who knows? Iger could also just be placating the shareholders. Only time will tell how this turns out.
