Bar Riva offers guests a hearty Disney World plant-based option with its Grilled Vegetable Wrap. Is it worth your time during a Walt Disney World vacation?

Disney’s Riveria Resort contains some of the best dining options at Walt Disney World. For example, Primo Piatto continues to shine with top-tier quick-service meals. The signature dining option at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Topolino’s Terrace—Flavors of the Riviera, offers one of the best breakfast meals on the property. Also, the evening signature dining stands out among Walt Disney World table service options.

Following that trend, Bar Riva functions as a half-pool bar and half-top-quality lounge. Bar Riva resides near Primo Piatto and the pool areas at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Guests can order from the bar or take a seat at one of the tables in the covered dining area. Once seated, they will be waited on by a server. Bar Riva is open nightly from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., staying open a bit later on Fridays and Saturdays.

The menu features more than burgers and chicken strips. However, Bar Riva’s Signature Burger and Chicken Strips rank high among those items at Walt Disney World. Still, we visited recently to try the primary plant-based item here, the Grilled Vegetable Wrap.

According to the menu, the Grilled Vegetable Wrap consists of “Harissa-marinated Vegetable, Plant-based Cucumber Yogurt, Tomato Lemon Vinaigrette and Quinoa Salad served over a Grilled Pita.”  That does not sound like your typical theme park resort pool bar menu item.

During our recent visit, we noticed two obvious things about this wrap. One, it contained a high percentage of zucchini. We planned for this. If you do not enjoy zucchini, this plant-based item might not work well for you.

Two, for the price point, the Grilled Vegetable Wrap offered a significant portion size. The wrap is served open-faced. This allows the chefs to place more filling on the grilled pita.

Even though our entrée took longer than it should have to arrive at our table, it was warm and presented well. The vegetables, which also featured mushrooms, were well prepared.

The harissa flavor enhanced the vegetable, giving this dish more than the usual “theme park-level” spicy kick. However, we notice that Walt Disney World often depends on a spicy kick with its plant-based dishes. Nevertheless, the harissa did not overwhelm the dish but supported it. The quinoa salad also worked nicely. Everything tasted fresh.

The pita also came well-prepared and soft. We found it was very good with this dish. However, we suggest that guests eat some of the vegetable mixture before even considering picking it up to eat it like a standard pita. We did that and found it worked well.

Overall, this entrée makes a great meal that will not weigh you down. Bar Riva should also get credit for creating a Walt Disney World plant-based entrée without using alt-meat products. We enjoy well-prepared Impossible products, like those we will have at the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival starting March 5.  However, a plant-based meal using more natural products gets a gold star in our grade book.
