According to Whoopi Goldberg, the script for “Sister Act 3” is ready to go. The question is whether Disney wants to produce it.

Whoopi Goldberg made her first appearance at the Oscars in over 30 years. At that event, she stated that she viewed a completed script for “Sister Act 3.”

Goldberg starred in the first two “Sister Act” movies. She played a former lounge singer in the witness protection program who was forced to hide in a California convent. In addition, “Sister Act” and “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” did well in terms of box office success. Based on that, some speculation has started that a sequel would eventually be made.

It sounds like where there is smoke, there is fire regarding a sequel. However, there may be some issues based on Goldberg’s words about the film being made.

“We’re hoping it’ll happen sometime this year,” Goldberg told Variety‘s Marc Malkin at the Oscars red carpet in Hollywood earlier Sunday. But when asked what she thought about the script, Goldberg said, “It doesn’t matter what I think. It only matters if Disney wants to do it.”

At the Oscars Red Carpet, Goldberg also said, “Following Maggie Smith’s death this past September, We’re having to make some readjustments because we just lost Maggie Smith, as you know. And so, we will get it done. We will get it done. It’s a shift.”
